Fairs and congresses in Beirut, Lebanon

The Lebanese capital Beirut is located on the eastern Mediterranean and has roughly 1.5 million inhabitants (as of 2016). It is the economic and cultural center of the country, since the government, a number of (international) universities and the national museum are located here. The many sights of Beirut invite visitors to explore the city, especially the Mohammed-al-Amin Mosque (Blue Mosque), the Musée Sursock (Lebanese art) and the clock tower at Sāhat an-Nadschma, the so-called Star Square, are worth visiting. The inner city boasts various small restaurants offering regional delicacies. This is why Beirut – formerly known as the ‘Paris of the Middle East’ – is a fascinating destination in order to discover Lebanese life and culture. The city has two international transport options: the airport Rafiq Hairi is located in the south of the city, whereas the seaport can be found in the north. The airport is the only international one in Lebanon and is, for example, served by Lufthansa and the Lebanese Middle East Airline from Frankfurt.
