Fairs and congresses in Lima, Peru

Lima, the Latin-American capital of Peru in the Andes, is located by the Rio Rimac on the west coast of the country. The city plus its hinterland is home to almost 10 million people. Due to its airport, Lima is internationally connected; Europeans usually depart from Madrid. The fishing and commercial port of the city in Callao is extremely important for the city, since export goods like mineral oil, metals, sugar and coffee are shipped from there. In 1991, the attractive old town with its checkerboard streets and houses from colonial times became UNESCO World Heritage sites. A number of museums, for example the “Museo d’oro’, 13 institutions of higher education and numerous structures, such as the cathedral dating back to the 16th century, are interesting for culture enthusiasts. In the southern part of the city, in Miraflores or Barranco, you can visit various cafés, bars and restaurants, which offer typical creole meals with fish and seafood.
