Fairs and congresses in Melbourne, Australia

With around 4.3 million inhabitants, Melbourne is the second-largest Australian city and the southernmost megapolis of the earth. 35,000 years before James Cook landed on the Australian coast, the area surrounding Melbourne was already inhabited by the Aborigines. Today, Melbourne is – besides Sydney – the economic and cultural center of the country. Concerning economy, the shipbuilding and oil industries have played a significant role for a long time. By now, the city has also developed into the service center of the continent. Visitors who want to explore the city should start at Federation Square. The square in ochre-colored sandstone was only completed shortly after the turn of the millennium, but has quickly become the heart of the city. From here, you can saunter the one kilometer to Eureka Tower and enjoy the view of the metropolis from the 88th floor. Water sport enthusiasts find a coastline of 2,000 kilometers in the state of Victoria that leaves nothing to be desired. It is not possible to fly nonstop to Australia; the cheapest flights go via India or Malaysia. The most comfortable flights are from Japan or South Africa. The flight duration is about 24 hours with one stopover.
